Who we are

LM Info is an editorial site publishing regulatory analysis of the UK licensed betting sector. For data protection purposes, LM Info is the data controller for personal data collected through the site. The data controller can be reached at privacy at lminfo dot uk for data protection enquiries.

Data we collect

We collect two categories of data. First, server log data collected automatically by the web server on every visit, including IP address, user agent, referring URL, and request timestamp. Second, any data you submit voluntarily through the contact routes described on the Contact page, including your email address and the content of your message.

How we use data

Server log data is used to operate and secure the site, to prevent abuse, and to compile aggregate visitor statistics. Voluntary contact data is used to respond to your enquiry and, if you choose to correspond further, to continue that correspondence. We do not use reader data for behavioural profiling, do not sell reader data, and do not share reader data with operator marketing platforms.

Cookies

LM Info sets a small number of strictly necessary cookies used for site operation and, where enabled, for aggregate analytics. See the Cookies page for the full list and the purpose of each. You can decline non-essential cookies at any time through your browser controls.

Lawful bases

We rely on the legitimate interests lawful basis for server log processing and site security, on consent for any non-essential analytics or optional cookies, and on your explicit request when you send voluntary correspondence. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we conduct a legitimate interests assessment before adopting the processing activity.

Retention

Server logs are retained for a period sufficient to support security investigations, typically ninety days, before automated deletion. Voluntary correspondence is retained for as long as the correspondence remains active and for a reasonable further period for reference. If you would like your correspondence records deleted at the conclusion of a matter, please write to the privacy email address above and we will action the request subject to any statutory retention obligations that may apply.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. To exercise a right, please write to the privacy email address above. We aim to respond substantively within one month and will explain any extension of that timeline in advance. If you are dissatisfied with our handling of your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner Office through its published channels.

Third parties

Where LM Info uses third-party services on the site, the current list is limited to a lightweight aggregate analytics provider and a content delivery network for static assets. Neither service receives personal data enabling identification of individual readers. If we add or change third-party services in future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly and the change date will be reflected in the effective date at the top of the page.

We do not use social media pixels, advertising trackers, or behavioural retargeting services on the site. Where the editorial content links out to external references such as legislation.gov.uk or an encyclopaedic entry, those external sites operate under their own privacy policies and are not covered by this notice. The rel=noreferrer attribute on external links is used to limit the referral information passed to the external site.

International transfers

Our infrastructure is hosted in the UK and the European Economic Area. Where any personal data is transferred to a third country, we rely on appropriate safeguards including UK adequacy decisions where available, and standard contractual clauses where they are not. We do not transfer reader data outside the UK for marketing or advertising purposes.

Security

We apply proportionate technical and organisational measures to protect reader data, including transport-layer encryption for all site traffic, access controls on the server infrastructure, and monitoring for abuse. No system is invulnerable, and if a personal data breach affecting reader data occurred, we would report it to the Information Commissioner Office within the statutory timeframe and notify affected readers where required.
